In various industrial applications, mechanical cams are used to create motion according to a particular profile, depending on a master axis position.
Nevertheless, this widespread principle of mechanical cams has numerous constraints:
• Lack of flexibility
• Wear of mechanical components
• Wasted time to modify cam profiles
• Important main drive

On the other hand, the new cam functions included in the DIGIVEX Motion series offer a much more flexible solution to this kind of applications.
Indeed, the cam profile is not anymore given by a mechanical part specifically designed but by a user program located in the DIGIVEX Motion positioning-drive:
• Very easy modification of the cam profile
• Low wear of mechanical components : the cam profile is given by program
Reduced time to change cam profile : it is only needed to load or activate the new profile into the DIGIVEX Motion
• Reduced main drive : The information of position of the master axis is delivered from an encoder and is transmitted electrically and not anymore mechanically
• Logic and analog outputs of the DIGIVEX Motion can be modified depending on the profile replacing electromechanical sensors

In order to take maximum benefits from these new functions and to bring easiness for their set-up, the Parvex Motion Explorer software is now available with a new tool : The Cam Profile Editor.

Setting of cam parameters : Duration, number of points, cyclic cam or not, cam depending on time or on a master axis position, logic and analog values…

Cam profile definition : Definition of the control points of the cam, definition of interpolation type between points, points extracted from CAD system (.csv type files)…

Status of the logic and analog outputs depending on the profile…

Visualization of the cam: observation of position, speed, acceleration variables, logic or analog outputs…


With this new functions, the DIGIVEX Motion series replaces technically arduous solutions, allows the realization of precise motions and offers the flexibility of advanced electronics and software.
